Title : ART[I]CULATION
Curated by : Arief Bagus Prasetyo
The “Art[i]culation” Art Exhibition presents the paintings by selected Indonesian contemporary artists. The artists participated in the exhibition belong to different generations of Indonesian artists who is actively coloring Indonesian art scene today.
Indonesian contemporary art, which is represented in this exhibition by paintings, shows various tendencies and characteristics. The painters articulate their ideas and concerns with any artistic tools they prefer to use. They explore their creative imagination in various mode of expression as different as the painstakingly realistic to the gestural abstraction. They raise loudly their engaging voices or submerge silently into the depth of their psyche.
Nevertheless, their creativity is moved by moral responses and attitudes concerning social, political and cultural situations that are seen and faced. Their creative process involves complex encounters and struggles between internal and external factors, objective and subjective stimulus. The result is artistic creations that reflect the personal intuition of the artists as well as their geosocial, geopolitical and geocultural background.
