Daily Sunday Morning The moral of "Bird's Nest" at the Biennale
Arts Biennale Yogyakarta December 11, 2009 displaying the work of hundreds of artists. Painting, sculpture, performance art and so enrich the event that took place during that month. Reporters covered the event the spirit of the course important in this context as a direct communication with its community of artists. Curatorial has been written to further appreciation of works of sculpture in his artistic views as a work of art, where the understanding of important artistic for always appreciated.
The sculpture with the title "Bird's Nest" and "Living Tree" is now standing in the yard PROP DIY Parliament building in Malioboro, as part of dozens of sculptures which are now held in the city of Yogyakarta in the event Biennale. Both sculptures were the work of sculptor Bambang Adi Pramono, when his student artists are invited to the palace as a model student of the Art Institute of Indonesia. He became a lecturer at the ISI but then Bambang decided to become independent artists directly involved in the community. The two works that are new works that he created specifically for this event. Before this work out of the studio is Ngurah Rai Monument to Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
From the title alone, both the statue was already signaled an intention. Made of mixed media, wood and stainless steel, is so expressionistic works reveal his vision. Beginning with the concept of the understanding of contemporary context for the existence of birds that we all know that they are now difficult to find their habitat because the world has now become so metropolitan. That there is now the pride we will be the establishment of skyscraper buildings are sturdy and luxurious. Many trees felled, the forest increasingly rare, so where animals live in comfort. They are powerless to overcome the dominance of human stressing that more robust technology and artificial materials. Excessive, then the balance of natural ecosystems into chaos, the impact is remarkable that certainly backfired for ourselves. Sculpture "Bird's Nest" and "Living Tree" is the theme for our reflection, always think back on what happened in the context of micro and macro concerns of life we all universally.
Sculpture, the artistic values given in accordance with the limits of discourse theme. He (read: the art of sculpture) to exist because of the quality concept and visually artistic quality. In concept, there is a philosophy of quality that allows viewers to find enlightenment or vice versa. All this is certainly a consideration of the artist in this case in absolute Bambang to present that work is a reflection of his intellectual quality. Absolute here is that such works are an expression of the quality of IQ and EQ did not even only that, the more distant is its ability to process the material into a work of artistic achievement targets.
From the second the concept of the statue, that he (the statue) to express a vision that the actual present, then this is a post-modern works, where there are several criteria in the category of artistic styles. The structure of these two statues are in the same context but have contrasting variants namely that the "Bird's Nest" Natural life Green world character more "bravely" and macho, while in the "Living Tree" more "nicely" and feminine. In the first statue, he stood firm in the form of trees and tall with dark want a jet black, supported by a circular metal bottom of the tree and the tree's branches spread of bird nests that one priority was almost perfect until the very characteristic of his artistic power. While in the second sculpture, the tree looks vertically with light brown color and there is an attractive white color accent, so it looks beautiful. On the second statue was added to the composition of metals with various compositions circular ring above the tops of tree branches as if the crown is made to seem more graceful. Apparently Bambang pair the statue as a balance as in the Yin-Yang, which requires the balance of nature. In this context the concept of a balance of technology and natural existence should ponder very carefully so as not to disrupt the eco-system. But what happens now is the tendency surpass the nature, therefore the "Bird's Nest" Bambang put metal in a circle at the bottom of this tree-shaped sculpture. It is a symbol that this natural growth sustained by technology. Once again, "supported by technology" and this shows the tendency of unbalancing. "Bird's Nest" that visualization is a tree with bird nests in trees is a combination of wood and metal for the bottom (not root) and bird's nest. So the bird's nest of this metal provides convenient symbol of how little the bird when its nest is natural (if) is replaced with metal bird's nest even though made with high technology as artistic as possible. Context sculpture "Bird's Nest" has a responsibility in every artistic element, so anything with the statue of "Living Tree", and that was indeed a work of art that have been through the mastery of academic disciplines in academic art.
At the biennale that brings hundreds of artists, audience appreciation society had a very good directly, the point is that logically there are academies of art which artists give birth every year. So there are a lot of artists skilled among us. The artists present at the same time like this, open the insight that in Indonesia, these artists not only that it is only ever called in newspapers in any event, once-again-that's it. Many other artists besides potentially even more potent, more artistic. Congratulations to the biennale, congratulations to all the artists and the community to better communicate with each other. Congratulations...
